LOS ANGELES – Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who became a star in splashy MGM musicals and later as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in TV’s “Fantasy Island,” died Wednesday morning at his home, his family said. He was 88.

Best Star Trek villain ever, too.

    Aw, that’s too bad.

I don’t remember him in Star Trek, but I never watched the newer ones much. I did watch Fantasy Island religiously as a kid. I think he played in an episode of Columbo, too.

I don’t know why, but for some reason, I always thought he was Cuban. Not that it matters…

What a shame to have lost him.

He was in the original series, and also the classic Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

He was a diamond. I can only hope that his coffin is lined with Corinthian leather…
