Hurk… I feel sick now.

legalizeliberty relaxing at home with an unknown companion after a hard day of doggerel mining

The next time someone tries to tell you that Libertarians are clear-headed individualists with the right answers to, well, anything, just send them to this link to read the following awful poem by legalizeliberty:

You Are Already Elected President (poem)
Doctor Ron Paul
Your life long struggle
Gave us a chance to break our chains

Your fine example
Human being standing tall
For what is right
Every day we soldiers of Liberty
Holding onto the flag of your words
Victory within our hands and hearts

In my heart
You are already elected president

I read it, and immediately felt sick. If there’s any clearer evidence than this little mash note that the Paulistas are adolescents in brain if not in age, I don’t know what it is.

JOYRIDING BEAR LEAVES TEEN GRIZZLY

A bear got into a teenager’s car, honked the horn and then sent it rolling 125 feet into a thicket, a Colorado family has said.

Ben Story, 17, said he and his family were asleep in their home south of Denver when the bear managed to open the unlocked door of his 2008 Toyota Corolla and climbed inside.

A peanut butter sandwich left on the back seat is probably what attracted the bear, Ben said.

It is not unusual for bears to open unlocked doors to cars and houses in search of food, Tyler Baskfield, a spokesman for the Colorado Division of Wildlife said.

“It happens all the time,” he said. “They’re very smart.”

Once inside, the bear must have knocked the automatic transmission shift into neutral, sending the car rolling backwards down the inclined driveway and into the thicket, Ben said.

The door apparently slammed shut when the car jolted to a stop, he said, trapping the bear inside.

Neighbours had called emergency police dispatchers, and deputies freed the bear by opening the door with a rope from a distance. The bear then ran into the woods.

But Ben says he will need a new car because the bear trashed the inside trying to get out.

Unconscienced?

Posted by That Other Mike on 27/03/2010

Shorter Evil Ned Flanders, Eternally Twatters
Unconscionable
The fact that all the supposedly celibate Catholic priests who attacked young choirboys are men means that all homos are pedos, and the fact that the world at large views this as an unconscionable slur on the millions of non-rapist homos is a sign of political correctness gone mad!

It is emphatically not a case of pedophiles preying on the nearest available child in a hierarchy arranged almost solely of men, no sir, no way, no how. I will admit, grudgingly, that the Pope was naughty not to fire the priests, but that’s about it. Anyway, the fact that they were men makes my flaming homophobia A-OK!

In my next post, watch as I explain how the existence of Black crack addicts make it OK for me to say “nigger!”

Even Shorter Neil Simpson, Ike Turner-ty Matters:
Unconscionable

Fuckin’ fags. Am I controversial and douchey enough to be Pat Robertson’s One True Heir yet?

Oh, yah.

Posted by That Other Mike on 11/09/2009

I’m in Minnesota, with Lottie and the Boy, and it makes me happy. That’s all I have to say – it’s really that simple 🙂

We’re staying with the lovely and generous Bonnie and Dale, who’ve been better family to us than anyone we coincidentally happen to have genetic links with – thanks, Bonnie and Dale 🙂 Anything else is just an embellishment to what I really and honestly mean – you have my full and complete gratitude, and always will.

All that being said, I just wanted to say all of that, and post a song. Enjoy!

Nom nom nom

Nomnomnom
Just a quick one – happy birthday to me! I got myself a pair of Chuck Taylor Converse All-Star Hi-Tops, which is just killerbee. I’ve been wanting a pair for a couple of years, and I couldn’t find any in my size until now.

I also have a new bike on order, which should be arriving on Friday, and it is possibly one of the coolest bikes in the world. It’s single speed, tough, utilitarian… Oh, yeah, and it’s also bright orange with custom white tyres. It’s made by a company called Old Skool Hooligans, and it rocks so hard that I may have to get a special business card made to express just how awesome it is and give it out to complete strangers.

It’s going to be a good birthday week 🙂

I gotta have that cowbell, Baby!

Posted by That Other Mike on 17/01/2009

So, my wife and I were talking about straplines for our blogs. She’s a big fan of House, the medical comedy-drama starring Hugh Laurie, and was looking through various quotations for something suitable, and we were laughing at the funny moments.

She also asked me what the hell my strapline meant, and it transpired that she’d never seen the famous cowbell sketch! After considering and ultimately rejecting divorce, I decided to hunt down the piece in question; it’s one of the best pieces of sketch comedy in the world, and anyone who doesn’t think it’s funny should be taken out and shot.

To set the scene – the following is a parody of VH1’s Behind the Music, and is about the events around the recording of Don’t Fear The Reaper.

Enjoy…

I am still alive…

Posted by That Other Mike on 22/12/2008

… contrary to any rumours.

I’ve moved house. It’s a much better place. Still shared accommodation, but in this one, the landlord lives in, and so has a vested interest in keeping the place nice. I don’t remember if I blogged about it, but in the the last house, a small drip in the bathroom resulted in the ceiling in the living room falling down. This was November, 2007; as of two weeks ago, new plasterboard was put in. Yeah, exactly.

Anyway, the room I have now is nicer and the house generally is in better shape – less cold, less run down, and the people seem much nicer and more together. Less likely to go bugshit nuts, in other words, which was a problem in the last place.

I don’t have any responsibility for the bills, beyond handing money to the landlord for them.

Altogether, it’s a much better place to be living.

I have also come late to the game and started using Skype for calling the missus; I have the Unlimited World package, meaning that I can make up to 10,000 minutes of calls monthly for £7.99, which is significantly less than what I was previously paying…

It’s a much better situation all round for me right now, and I’m happy to be here 🙂

I’m working Monday to Wednesday in the coming week; not because I couldn’t get time off, but because I didn’t want it. I’ll have Christmas Day and Boxing, because they’re Bank Holidays, but there’s not really much I can do about that. I dislike Christmas generally, and not only for the whole religious side of it; there’s the atmosphere of forced jollity and the requirement that you be seen to be enjoying yourself. I got called “Scrooge” by a couple of people in (partial) jest, and I responded by challenging them to call me when they start celebrating Ramadan or Rosh Hashanah or Diwali, which seems to have done the trick…

In other news, I’ve also moved back to Opera-based browsing, and boy, is it an improvement! I was using Firefox for a while, because anything beats Internet Exploder, but that was really only because I wanted to use StumbleUpon. It was just cranky and kept crashing on me, so I decided to come back to Opera, and what a blissful browsing experience it is. I can recommend 9.6 to everyone.

That’s about it for now, really.

Teh Coolness!

Posted by That Other Mike on 27/11/2008

Via BBC News:

Robots!First there were dancing robots, then house-sitting robots and now a new breed of acting robots is making its big debut on the Japanese stage.

The play, which had its premiere at Osaka University, is one of Japan’s first robot-human theatre productions.

The machines were specially programmed to speak lines with human actors and move around the stage with them.

Now this is kind of cool! Quite aside from the coolness factor of there being robots walking around on stage declaiming lines on stage, this does bring up some interesting ideas, especially when coupled with the following news item:

IBM has announced it will lead a US government-funded collaboration to make electronic circuits that mimic brains.

Part of a field called “cognitive computing”, the research will bring together neurobiologists, computer and materials scientists and psychologists.

As a first step in its research the project has been granted $4.9m (£3.27m) from US defence agency Darpa.

Now, I know this is only in the planning stages, and probably won’t go anywhere, but it’s still really exciting. It raises the idea that there might be humanoid robots which can interact interestingly and fruitfully with human beings in a way which isn’t just another Alice.

I know, I’m letting my imagination run away with me. That kind of thing is probably decades, if not centuries, away. I’d be surprised to see it in my own lifetime, to be honest, although the idea of a robot companion for my dotage does appeal somewhat.

It’ll be a long time before we see any kind of AI or anything even superficially similar to what you might find in the movies, but it’s still cool.

McDonald’s Sued Over Woman’s Naked Buns – TMZ.com

Posted by That Other Mike on 24/11/2008

McDonald’s is known for its cheap meat — but after a bad trip to the burger joint, one guy’s wife allegedly became cheap meat.

McD’s just got served by a guy who allegedly left his cell phone — which contained nude photos of his wife — at the Arkansas restaurant, only to find the nude pics posted online.

Phillip Sherman was assured by employees they’d keep the phone safe, yet the photos — along with Sherman’s phone number and address — somehow found their way onto the Internet.

The couple claims they had to move to a new house to get away from his wife’s new stalkers. Sherman wants 3 mil for their troubles.

Hehehehe… I know I should be sympathetic towards the woman, and I am, but I can’t help laughing just a little bit at her husband’s stupidity.

You can bet your arse that if I were to have nudie pics of my wife, they wouldn’t be accompanying me on a visit to a fast food joint, and they certainly wouldn’t be on something that I could accidentally leave lying around.

Current Events

Posted by That Other Mike on 06/11/2008

I’m currently in the same country as the missus for a change, hence the lack of communications… Although that’s not really an excuse, being as I haven’t really been saying much for a good while. But I am having a good time and enjoying the company of my family, which is nice.

That’s also why I haven’t started a new 30 Day Experiment. I don’t think I’ll start another one until the New Year; I have several schools going out in the meantime, and I really need to focus on getting those done correctly. But I will still start one in January, and it will be a novel of thirty chapters of approximately 1660 words; just like NaNoWriMo, really, but in January.

Oh, and some dude got elected President.
